I personally learn A LOT more about the economics from hearing this press conference than reading the summary of it from news outlet. I would recommend to all investors to hear the whole talk to get a better understanding how Powell thinks. The last question, IMHO, is the one that I was hoping a journalist would ask. And thanks to Chair Powell for answering it without beating around the bush

Powell's unwillingness to get involved in what he considers "fiscal policy" dampens the ability of the government to address income disparities and will harm people with low-incomes, women, and minorities.
His hand-wringing is sincere, and he seems to have compassion, but staying in his lane that much prevents creative alternatives from emerging that benefit from Fed expertise conceptually.

If you aren't working and have already fallen behind which.effects credit scores-- how in the he'll can credit be an option. More individual debt on the backside? Feels like a poor option when we are already struggling. States are spiking again because of the relaxed conditions. The only thing to help the lower income individuals is stimulus payments. You can discuss it and argue and play politics all day long. Doesn't pay utilities, rent or put food in our mouths. There are many of us who are at the end of our resources with no job options for various reasons. We need money in our hands now. We spend our lives working, paying our taxes, which pays our politicians but we can't touch it. We have to wait for said politicians to decide whether or not we are allowed to access it to live. They are living off of our tax dollars via their salaries. We need help now. Americans are going hungry. And illegals who pay nothing into our system are still being given our tax dollars. Its enough.
