Reviewing the best budget smartphones in the UK for a cost of £300 or under in 2024, from Samsung, Poco, Xiaomi, Realme and OnePlus. Here's a mini review of my top ten favourite phones, and subscribe for more budget phone unboxing videos and comparisons!

At the moment you can grab yourself a bargain phone at this price point from quite a few manufacturers. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G occasionally costs just £299 on the UK website, despite boasting a decent camera and respectable specs. Otherwise there's the new Galaxy A25 5G just launched and my full review is hopefully coming soon.

Many of these best budget smartphones in 2024 can run games like Genshin Impact (albeit on low graphics) or at least Call of Duty and PubG. The likes of the Poco X6 and Xiaomi's Redmi Note 13 5G also offer long battery life thanks to the massive batteries stuffed inside. And if you're tempted by a more stock Android phone experience, check out Motorola's Moto options.

Motorola Edge 30 with the Snapdragon 778G+ 5G.
Not a new pick but its extra cheap at the moment and if you care more about raw performance and less about timely and extended software updates, this might just be the phone for you.

Thanks to your review a few months back I got a moto edge 40 neo as a temporary replacement for my pixel 7 which I managed to snap across the camera bump. I've been more than pleased with it excellent battery life, ok ish camera and I'm probably never going to stump up for a flagship phone again. Looking forwards to motorola's new offerings this year. And watch most of your videos mainly for the fruity language.

Yes, right there! Motorola is a good phone. I love the stock android experience. I have had Nokia for the longest time. Wanted to switch to Motorola after Nokia decided to misbehave but the support Motorola gives to the devices is so short! I wish more companies would stick to stock android.

I’ve kept my budget honor 20 for 4 years now (I bought it for £210) and I absolutely loved it for 3 out of 4 years. Got tired of it this year haha. I’m looking to buy a flagship phone next month. Hopefully Xiaomi 14 Pro gets released during the MWC event. But I still can’t decide between the Xiaomi 14 Pro and Honor Magic 6 Pro. According to all reviews so far, the 14 pro is better in terms of camera, performance and design. It has better CPU Stability, no throttling issues, no heating issues unlike the HM6 PRO. The design is also lovely, I don’t like the Dynamic Island on the HM6 Pro.

However, if these issues get fixed with the global release I wouldn’t mind buying the HM6 PRO at all! I’d love to stay in the honor ecosystem. If the s24+ was released with SD 8 Gen 3 I would have definitely bought that instead!

What do you recommend Tech Spurt? Is there any other phone that I should consider (excluding the OnePlus 12 series)?

Hey Uncle Spurt I have a phone that is under £300 and under £200 that is a Samsung Galaxy A14 it only cost me £180 but I'am still using my Samsung Galaxy S21 phone at the moment.

PS can you do a review on the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G and the Samsung Galaxy A25 5G at the same time too see which one off them is the best?

Poco M6 pro, just got it & what a unit! I'm blown away 🤯 Was expecting the camera to be poor, but honestly its pretty good in my opinion but I aint no David Bailey

I always look for deals. I'm with fido and they have phones that you can buy "like new" or "lighty" used. 2 years ago, I bought a like new s20 fe for $1/month for 24 months, provided you keep your current plan. This year, I bought a like new s23 for $3 per months for 24 months. The caviat is that you can only change your phone every 2 years as you are stuck with your current plan and the phone. My current plan is 20 gb data package, which is around $20 a month.
