Created by UNICEF to create awareness about the situation of the girl child in south east Asian countries especially in the rural areas, Meena quickly became very popular as the voice of reason, intelligence and caring. The Meena stories dealt with large and small problems facing ordinary rural folk - gender equality, education for girls, sanitation, Nutrition, Early marriage, Dowry practices etc.
Shri RamMohan was instrumental in taking Meena from a single drawn sketch to a full and complete world that was not particular to any one region and yet reflected all parts of South Asia. The popularity of Meera in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and India is testament to his success.

When I was a child, we were given books in which this story was written in school..Actually, I got one or two...I really like that story...maybe I have seen the same books more than 100 times..I didn't have much English knowledge at that time. Gave me a beautiful childhood memory..The library had received some books and I read them too..I still remember some of the lessons..It was indeed a very worthwhile service.❤❤❤❤
