Spontaneous improvised Palm Mute Pedal concert with La Louve

I invited some great pianists to try the Palm Mute Pedal in Nils Frahms studio, Saal 3, which he kindly let me use. During the session we had a small break, where we could fit in La Louve. Nothing was planned, she had never used the pedal before, we just pressed record and vibed.

i love her style. she's not out to throw a ton of notes and rhythms together to impress an ear that's heard just about all there is to in a room like that ... she's just letting the piano wander around the room and learn us just as we're learning it ...

This pedal is genius. The way that it adds another new sound to the piano is amazing. The potential for this is amazing; an incredibly timbrally complex instrument like the piano being made more interesting and diverse in the sounds that it can create cannot be understated. It has to be one the best piano technological advancements in recent years.

Experiencing people learning how to use it is something wonderful. The sound created by using the pedal is so off yet so familiar! Once this goes to any live venue (I count on you, Nils Frahm), just count me in!

I'm going through each of these videos one by one because I'm so enraptured by the sound that it makes. I've been playing for around 5 years now and like others find the sound so familiar and yet so alien at the same time. Extremely compelling! I think there could be a lot of interest in this.

Wonderful. All sounds are in place, not too much and not too little. It is a wonderful piece created there on spot catching the magic of music and of the new sounds re-discovering the piano.
