The fall and rise of Ferencvaros: Hungarian football's royalty

A brief history of Ferencvaros, told by James Montague.

The history of the Hungarian club is winding and absorbing. For a long time the biggest club in the country, but faced Nazi rule, faced bankruptcy, was brought back to life by a Yorkshireman, and is in the midst of an “ultra-nationalist reawakening of Hungarian identity” by current President Victor Orban.

Must applaud TIFO for their research, not only on the story and the details, but also on the pronounciations of the hungarian words and names.👏🇭🇺

As a hungarian I have to give a massive credit for the pronunciation in this video. I'm very impressed!

They're actually to this day a powerhouse in water polo. In fact they won the Champions League last season

The fact that you pronounced the names correctly pleases me so much as a Hungarian.

As a Hungarian, I feel I need to give a massive credit for the amount of information you mentioned in this one single video. You must have dug yourself very deep in this topic, and you have done a great job concerning pronounciation.💪

Come to think of it, the Hungarian national team has been playing very well of late.

That MTK team also included Bela Guttemann if I remember correctly. Plus, when I think about Ferevacos, I think about Florian Albert.

'Make Hungarian Football Great Again' - I never heard this like that, but it truly describes what's happening in Hungary. Thank you for this phrase, and the video, I like it very much.

It is a great video, the only false information is what Bobby Davidson said. When the ultras attacked the bus that was after a game when we lost 3-1 against Kecskemét away, not after a win.

I remember when Newcastle United played Ferencváros in the UEFA Cup. Never met a fan base like it. Met a fellow (May have past now) who witnessed the golden team and he talked my ear off about how great they were. I was mesmerised. I hope to visit the stadium one day and maybe watch a game

Orban is not the President of Hungary. The President is a ceremonial position, like the Pres of Germany or Monarch in UK. Orban is prime minister, position identical to that of PM in the UK or Chancellor in Germany - all of whom are heads of executive because their party won the parliamentary election.
