Very cool tool

A generic Chinese HVAC tool for swapping leaky schrader valve cores in a charged system, or using the side port to pull vacuum or charge them without the valve-core restricting flow.

I don't need that tool, but I have a primal urge to get one. Big Clive is the audio Hypno Toad.

Just a few additional tips on this from a refrigeration technician.
1 - When you're screwing the tool onto the valve, don't monkey it on. If it is too tight, the O-ring will spread out and knock the core off every time. Just tighten it until you have resistance, the core will be far less likely to fall off during removal. If it leaks when removing, just tighten until it stops.
2 - Once you start to unscrew the core, whatever pressure is in the system is going to push the tool away. So you're going to want to use one hand to keep the tool against the core, and the other hand to turn it.
3 - After you replace the core, unscrew the back half of the tool first. Sometimes the core doesn't go in right, or has bad seals, so it leaks really bad. If you take the back half off first, you can still close the ball valve if you discover it leaking. Depending on the size of the leak, it is very dangerous to try putting the entire tool back on the valve.
4 - Keeping the seals and shaft lubricated with a little nylog will help prolong the seals and make it easier to use.
5 - If you get high quality, vacuum rated core removers, you can remove the cores to reduce the time it takes to vacuum the system down.

That is one of those amazing tools I will never need.

Neat. I hope you did this as a gig for the manufacturer as an instructional video. You do have a voice for radio!

For a second there, I thought this was a Lock Picking Lawyer crossover😅

You know, as an HVAC technician? I've got a lot of neat and fancy and super complicated tools, but that one is my all-time favorite. It has saved me so many hours over the years as well as saved my customers countless dollars. Customer retention. A good customer service experience? They will tell one or two people, but a bad one? They will tell 10 to 50! Keep that in mind, it doesn't hurt your bottom line to give a freebie away now and then.

That third port is for your vacuum gage. It's so you can tell how many microns of atmospheric pressure your system is at. This is to get any non compressibles or refrigerant stuck in the oil out of the system. We generally shoot for 500 microns but sometimes lower if the system is exposed to open air for a good amount of time.

Clive, one other thing that tool can do. When you want a higher flow of gas/fluid. You remove the core. Then you have access to a larger opening. Makes it faster when you are doing an exchange or pumping the system down.

I've used this type of tool many times, one of its best uses is it allows you to have an unrestricted port for rapid recovery of refrigerant gas .

Good demonstration of a key HVAC service tool. Always put the cap back to help make sure you don't have to do this again in a couple years.

Wow, I still have my original core tool from 1975 when I started in the business! I mostly used it to pull the core out of the way so the vacuum pump had better/ faster flow.

That's pretty slick, if I ever make the A/C physics package in my hooptie work again I'll definitely be getting one of these for my car tools kit. Leaky Schrader valve on car A/C is something I see people like Rainman Ray encounter a lot.

Transportation reefer tech here and damn I wish I’d have seen this back when I started my career. Would have saved me some headaches. Thanks brother.

I specialize in commercial kitchen refrigeration systems. These are key to being able to pull a deep vacuum on a system quickly when doing a full charge on a unit.

Every time I see Chris over on HVACR Videos use one of these I'm impressed by the engineering behind them. It's so simple and yet such a genius tool.

Was nice to get to see it so up close and clearly

That is a neat tool. Almost like a hot tap for water lines.
