If you think basketball is the most dangerous sport, you are absolutely wrong.
This is Hornussen.
Balancing a bat over 3 meters long with all their might, players send a small disc flying off a rail. It’s a traditional Swiss sport often called “farmers’ golf.” The game is won by hitting the “Nouss” (the disc) as far as possible across a field.
But it’s not as simple as it sounds. Across the field, a whole team of defenders awaits. In this sport, each team consists of 16 to 20 players. On defense, players use large wooden boards called “Schindel” to block the flying disc.
If the disc hits the ground, the attacking team scores points. But if the defenders block it, the attacking team scores no points. The Nouss is small and incredibly fast, reaching speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour.
