The thing I don't understand about this is that the profitable companies actually sell them. Yeah, I get that there's a large sum being offered, but over time they'll earn that money and still be the owners of their company. Just think about how much more money those three guys that started YouTube would have right now had they not sold it to Google.

This is how the world works now. Simply buy a proftable company or even better buy the competitor. Broadband/TGN was bought by the RTL group and there rumors that AT&T is interested in buying Fullscreen.

YouTube boosted the Entertainment business and lets people that are into media post, show of their work and develop on YouTube. YouTube also makes it easier to get into the Entertainment business the Graphic design. Its opened a lot of opportunities for people and also given out a lot of entertainment and I think it will be seen as one of the most icon advancements in media even after its gone.

This could go one of two ways:

Either Disney could just be using Maker to make some extra cash only and using the creators for content that they would lose rights to their videos if they sign up with them.

Or

If you sign up, Disney would give the creators full access to all music and videos across all of their divisions.

If the former happens, it would become what Blip.tv became: Deep-Six all of the people that wasn't making enough money for them and only keep high-viewcount channels.

If the latter happens, then they would be a major force just because of all of the access that they would have to Music, Sports and news.

This is off topic but what are your feelings on Microsoft buying Minecraft. I know Microsoft does not allow youtubers to monetize videos of their games. Do you think that could happen with Minecraft? Even though it wouldn't effect me as much as some other youtubers it's something I was wondering about.

I'll be honest... I'm partners with Maker/Rpm/whatever they want to call themselves now. The whole Disney buying them doesn't really mean anything, in my opinion. I doubt we'll be getting anything out of it, like getting the a-ok to do, like you said, Let it Go from Frozen, and being able to monetize it etc etc, other than "oh hey, we got bought by Disney! Yay! :D" Idk... That's just me.

All I really know, once my contract is over I'm either moving to Fullscreen or you guys here at Freedom!
It seems you guys are really focus in helping everyone, not just whoever is your Top making $$$ channels, unlike RPM/Maker.

As being a former Maker partner before joining freedom all i have to say is THEY ARE A MONEY MAKING SCHEME, they never payed fairly or they robbed people out their fair earned money and they would cheat and lie to you. They almost took over RWJ's Equals 3, and they tried to buy me out! With 60 40 share but i dont care about the money i like freedom because it helps small channels! I hope to work here as a dev out of college (I have about 8 years because im a freshman in High School!) -Alex

Well you know that's the name of the game, I think it's perfectly fine that Disney buys it's way into Youtube like this. If the Maker producers aren't happy with it, they can't always jump ship to another network after all (granted I'm not aware of the points of the Maker contract, so I don't actually know how easy that would be for them). That's just how the market works, if you have money then you get an advantage - use the resources available to you and all that jazz. That said, I do worry if Youtube will change the algorithm to better fit people who use youtube as their actual jobs and have more time to produce content.

Hey #FreedomFamily I just want to tell you guys that I started my channel like 4 months ago and today I only have 13 subscribers but I am not giving up, I will never give up, I put effort into my videos because I enjoy making them, making YouTube videos is not just for the money you get, its about doing what you enjoy best which is making videos, what am trying to say is that you should never give up, put as much effort as you can and it would be worth it.

Honestly I find Disney buying Maker to be kind of weird still. I would think Disney would be big enough to start their own network.
