Haiti’s revolution was astonishing but also impossible to maintain. A prosperous black nation can not be allowed to exist; least of all Haiti. Haiti’s very existence spits in the face of the black subjugation system and for that reason it’s destruction and continued impoverishment was a top priority.

Well that’s a lot more comprehensive then what my mom taught me. She just said there were too many slaves on the island that they couldn’t control anymore.

This is fascinating, I think that this is a very good short introduction (I know that it is going too be a three part series). If anyone is intrigued and would like to learn more I would highly recommend part 4 of Revolutions by Mike Duncan a it goes into a lot more depth (I would also recommend it and his other works generally for any who are interested in history)

I love it when people stick to the facts. I thought i knew a lot about the revolution but i knew nothing about British Involvement. its funny how history is always presented in school like confilcts take part in a vacuum. Thank you for your excellent work.

Calling it the Haitian slave revolt is a bit disingenuous as it was more than just the slaves who rebelled. It was in many ways an all out war that the slaves came out on top of.

Its amazing how TV shows somehow "forget" that there were black slaver owners in the Caribbean when talking about the slave trade. I'm sure its just oversight of course. Thanks for enlightening me Jabzy.
