"Sounded all the alarms.... and it all came crashing down." 😂😂 I hate it when that happens. 😅

I added Idyls of the King, Can You Forgive Her, and Wyndam's Daughter to my Goodreads list! I know the latter two weren't quite right for you, but your description intrigued me 👀 Thank you for sharing your passions and dislikes and everything in between ❤

“I hate-read the second half of this!” 😂😂😂 Kate, I love the passion with which you speak of the books you read! I still haven’t read Charlotte Mary Yonge, so I’m thinking I might have to try The Heir of Redclyffe for Victober!

I haven't read Charlotte Mary Yonge yet, so maybe I should add Countess Kate to my Victober tbr. Too bad about Poor Miss Finch. I haven't read it, but had high hopes since several kept mentioning it last year.

Loved hearing your thoughts on these Victorian books 🤩 I'll have to add Countess Kate to my list! I loved watching The Pallisers (based on the 'Can You Forgive Her?' series) and I hope I'll find the books as good or better. Happy Reading, Kate! ☺💕📗

Loved hearing your thoughts on Poor Miss Finch even though I actually really loved it haha! Everything you said about it is fair 😂😂😂I need to read Idylls of the King! I keep saying over and over how much I want to get into Arthurian Lit but I'm so intimated by King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table as it's such a massive book, so I tend to just read little bits here and there, watch some videos on Arthurian legends, etc...

Kate, you are convincing me to pick up some Charlotte Mary Yonge this year! Every time you mention her I get so excited for Victober! Have you tried “Cousin Phillis” by Elizabeth Gaskell? It’s a story with an ache in it but it’s just SO GOOD. I need to re-read The Moreland Cottage, I remember really loving it.

So glad Countess Kate was so enjoyable! It also makes me want to read more of her books!

Thank you for your reviews. Often, we have contrasting views on books. 😅 Your Hardy that should not be named is my favorite, but I did enjoy The Trumpet Major in its own way. It was fun that it was set in another era/place from his others. While I didn't loathe Poor Miss Finch as much as you did, I thought it was a wee bit dramatic and didn't like Lucilla either. I saw someone suggest that Collins was possibly addressing racism in this, which would make sense, but not so fun when our heroine is the offender. Can't wait for your thoughts on the MacDonald reads and The Cloister and the Hearth!

Poor Miss Finch sounds terrible 😆 If the title was ironic that might be interesting, but it sounds like that's not the case

I finished "Poor Miss Finch" ... but also found her to be immature & overindulged. "Idylls of the King" was a favorite when I read it years ago. You inspire me to reread it ...have to try it on audio!
