As enterprises make the shift to multi-cloud, they continue to remain concerned about how to effectively deploy, manage, secure, and monitor hybrid- and multi-cloud deployments. Traditional approaches and systems, often proprietary, are falling short in this new world because they reduce the dynamism and portability of services or don’t work in heterogeneous environments or across clouds. In this panel, we explore how open systems, open interfaces, and open source are the key to unlocking seamless multi-cloud deployments and services. Moreover, whether customers build services themselves or get managed ones from Google Cloud or partners, with open systems they are able to consume these services in a consistent manner. Open systems are also critical to enabling new business models for public cloud providers, telcos, partners, and vendors. We bring together an amazing set of panelists to deep dive into this: 1.Kelsey and Anna provide a close look at what’s driving Google Cloud to be a strong part of open source and open systems like Kubernetes, Istio, Traffic Director, gRPC, Tensorflow, and more. 2. Matt from Lyft talks about open services and making modern architectures possible in brownfield with Envoy Proxy 3. Bikash explains why Juniper made the pivot to building open systems and the benefits their customers are reaping from this approach. At the end of the panel discussion, Moderator Prajakta will recap the learnings and predictions from our panelists.
