How to rank an actuarial employer (top 5 criteria)
Показать описание
If you haven't made your actuarial dream 10 list yet, I've got you covered!
Here are five criteria I use to rank a company:
1) Career advancement opportunities
With a good company, there's a lot of room for you to grow professional and advance your career further. However, if a company doesn't do this, then you're just going to be stuck where you are!
2) Salary
A couple of things I would do for this is look up employee reviews to see if they feel compensated enough, as well as look up actuarial salary surveys like the DW Simpson Actuarial Salary Surveys.
3) Mentorship and training opportunities
Does this company want their employees to thrive? If so, do they provide them with enough people and resources to help you succeed??
4) Actuarial exam support
A good company will offer you paid study materials, paid study hours and time off, and other perks to actuarial students taking their exams!
5) Work-life balance
If you don't want the actuarial career taking over your whole life (we all have other things we want to be doing, too!), then make sure that the company's culture aligns well with that principle!
