This song is awesome when you listen to it without knowing the lyrics.
Then you realize it's about a man that is tortured by a rat that is controlled by Satan and the song is even better.

I was granted the privilege of hearing this track on the program a "very punk xmas" by my local "alternative" station. it was the WORST Christmas I ever had but near the end I heard this song for the first and only time (on the radio!) Since then me and my remaining friends crank this masterpiece every single time we get rowdy. This is the GREATEST party song there is!

Chip went straight to work, he'd get rid of the rat

The rat attacked the boatwright and he bit him in the eye
It seemed as if the river rats fell under Satan's spell
They followed Chip around and made his life a living hell

He lost his job and had to join the King's navy

The water rushed in, and the ship went down
She was smashed upon the rocks on which the rats danced around

I remember getting out of drug rehab in North Berkeley, CA & seeing a Us Bombs, Real McKenzie's, NOFX, & Rancid show at Slims SFC the next day in early 2002. Grand evening indeed. One of the best shows I have seen. Thank you for putting this up. Cheers!!(A)
