P3068- Genomics and Primary Care Pediatrics: A Complementary Sequence

Francis Collins, MD, PhD discussed how the continued work of National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) and others provide the necessary tools and information to enhance the integration of genetics/genomics into primary care. The AAP is seriously tied to these efforts with the recent Genetics in Primary Care Institute, a strategic initiative working on the integration of epigenetics into primary care, and the recently published new information on genomics. This session concentrated on the relevance of genomics for primary care pediatricians, now and in the foreseeable future.
