“Thought-terminating cliché”, “thought-stopper”, or “bumper sticker logic.” Whatever you call it, it's frustrating to deal with.

6:14 “Babe, look, I only made it look like I’m cheating to test how much you trust me.” That abusive relationship is the one that we have with a testy god. It punishes justified skepticism and rewards performances of mental gymnastics.
I love your analogies!

Beyond Islam, here's the key problem of "God knows best (TM)": believers of any other religion - including ones with teachings that contradict Islam - can say the exact same thing and Muslims can't complain, because "God knows best" has zero explanatory power no matter who says it.

Part of me is tempted to recommend this channel to my Christian sister, so she can see how Islamic apologists make the same bad arguments Christians do.

"Hey, this guy is an ex-Muslim. He criticizes and pokes holes in the Islamic religion."

"Oh, cool. ...Wait. The arguments he's tearing down sound very sound familiar. It's exactly like what I hear in church, except they're saying "Allah" instead of "God.""

Shortly ago, somebody attacked a small information stand against "Political Islam" in Germany, clearly stating they don't oppose Muslims in general. A police officer who stepped was stabbed into the head and died in a hospital.
A few days later, there was another demonstration calling for a caliphate in Germany.
Then, the EU-parliament elections took place and it was very right-wing oriented in the whole of Europe.
Society is split and content like yours is very important. I hope it reaches the right people.

As an ex-Christian, it's pretty fascinating to realize how similar the thought-terminating cliches are in Islam and Christianity. I've heard basically every single one of these, just worded differently.

When I pointed out the contradictions to my ex, he used to tell me that I was trying to find excuses not to follow the truth because I didn’t like it and quote “Perhaps you dislike a thing that is good for you and like a thing that is bad for you. Allah knows, but you know not.”

The fact that you have to protect your identity just to criticize an idea shows how much is wrong and dangerous with the idea

I left religion due to the "Only god knows" cliche. Even as a kid it just felt like a way to dodge legitimate questions.

9:00 YES! LOL Someone finally voiced one of my BIGGEST frustrations with Islam. Why does Shaytan possess godly powers whose only purpose is to drag humans into hell. And God allows him to do so? THIS MAKES NO SENSE.

“God, why did you make me a slave?”

“Well, slavery is evil, and I don’t support it, but I deliberately made you a slave so that centuries from now, the people who question why I would let you remain enslaved can be sentenced to torment for not trusting in me enough. Thanks for taking one for the team!”

Any God who would deliberately do a thing like that is undeserving of worship, even if they exist.

When people say "god knows best" I always just respond with the fact that an all-knowing and all-powerfull being would necessarily be able to achieve every single one of his goals without suffering. So the only possible reason for suffering to exist is if suffering was expressly one of his goals. And no being with a goal of creating suffering can be considered good or loving. That being is evil

I was never a Muslim but I had a whole lot of conversations lately where people were trying to convince me to "learn about islam more", making me mistrust my own feelings and experience and think that maybe I really just wasn't enlightened enough to comprehend things, by using these exact phrases too. That thought stopping stuff really works, and it works especially well with disadvantaged people who have mental health issues and/or are already traumatized, unfortunately. I couldn't even realize at first how abusive this is and why it feels so bad. That's just creepy.

Thank you for the video! Definitely worth saving it ❤

Ideological slogans of all kinds become thought stopping cliches these days. The media pushes them, protestors repeat these phrases incessantly and with ferver. Thank you for another fantastic video. I appreciate you.

Awesome video, and even tho I was never Muslim and instead am ex-christian, these cliches have been used against me by my brother when debating Christianity. He’s called me a fool and Satan. He’s claimed I was trying to use the Bible against him by quoting the Bible and that he didn’t need to justify multiple things.

It’s all so laughable but overly frustrating.

Here’s a cliché that I have heard a whole lot as an ex-Christian, it’s, “Love the sinner, hate the sin.” It makes me so mad

"so you tell me that you know more than the Messenger and his guys"
This destroys all reformist processes of Islam to be good
