Aircraft are designed to be able to land and takeoff in stronger winds than you may think. If the winds is too strong they will choose not to land.
A crosswind above about 40mph and tailwind above 10mph can start to cause problems and stop jets taking off. Landings can seem scary in these conditions , but they are not as it seems.
