Taken by Louis Macdonald-Ames, this extraordinary footage shows Twaite shad in the river Wye moving upstream to their spawning grounds in Wales. Otherwise known as "May fish", shad are a member of the herring family that migrate into our rivers to breed in spring. Threatened throughout their range, they are an Annex2 listed species under the EU Habitats Directive.
