Galaxy S3 glass (ebay)
3M tape 2mm (or any other brand)
98% Ethanol (or any other organic solvent)
Microfiber cloth (or glass cleaning cloth)
Prying tool (Isesamo, or a knife)
Heat gun (or hair dryer)

Q: What is the difference between the colors of a Samsung Galaxy S3?
A: The blue, grey and brown version of the galaxy S3 have a plastic layer underneath the glass that keeps it together even when the glass breaks. This is why these glasses always come off in one piece. The black, white and red versions do not have this layer and the glass comes off in shards. Repairing a blue, grey and brown phone is quicker and easier. Depending on the damage, repairing a white, black or red Galaxy S3 can be difficult as each shard has to be removed individually using a prying tool.

Q: I see a black dot in the middle of the screen of my Samsung Galaxy S3 that looks like moisture. When I press on the edges of the glass the black dot disappears or shrinks.
A: The newly mounted glass is too close! The glass is touching the LCD below. This is the reason why we apply a secondary layer of double-sided tape to the sides of the phone. If you have this problem even after applying the extra double sided tape then consider applying a third layer, this however may impair the touch sensitivity. You can also consider reheating the top and bottom of the front glass and fix it well, this sometimes provides enough tension to stop the glass from touching the LCD. If you exhausted these options then you can consider gluing the new glass with LOCA (liquid optical clear adhesive), I will upload a video with my technique shortly.

Q: During calls the screen of my Samsung Galaxy S3 stays black even when I hold the phone out in front of me.
A: Something is blocking your proximity sensor! Perhaps some double sided tape is out of its place. Remove the glass and check if the sensor is blocked.

Q: The screen of my Samsung Galaxy S3 sometimes freezes, when I reset the screen using the power button it works again.
A: The glass is touching the LCD underneath, this usually happens when you press hard on the glass. This can cause the touchscreen to short-circuit. The reason that this can happen due to the absence of the LOCA (liquid optical clear adhesive) that is used to glue the glass to the LCD in an original phone, after performing the repair. These problems only arise in some cases. The solution is to not press hard when operating the phone. To completely fix this problem you can consider using LOCA to glue the glass to the LCD. This is an advanced repair, I will post a video of my technique shortly.

Q: The touchscreen of my Samsung Galaxy S3 is less sensitive.
A: In some phones this is a side effect of applying extra double sided tape along the edges. It indicates that the glass is too far away from the touchscreen. Usually this is avoided because in the Video the tape is only applied for 75% of the length of the sides. This results in the glass having a subtle curve. This curve is designed so that it minimizes the risk of the glass touching the LCD. at the same time it brings the glass closer around the top and bottom of the screen, increasing sensitivity there. You could try removig the extra double sided tape, thus bringing the glass closer. However this is risky because the glass may touch the LCD while operating the phone. If the extra double sided tape is removed then the phone should be operated without applying too much force.

Darnit. I watched someone else's video on this, their voice was super quiet, so I didn't hear how hot it needed to be. Mine wasn't hot enough, and I was using the wrong tools [seller on ebay sent the wrong ones, but I figured I'd still give it a go after I already started]. Cracked the LCD. :/ This video is so much better and smooth. Wish I'd found this one firstly.

Helpful hint: make sure the glue is very soft before you try to pry the damaged glass off. And make sure you insert the guitar pick or whatever tool you use VERY CAREFULLY  between the glass and the sensitive screen. Otherwise, the  inner screen - the business end - will crack or shatter and you end up with what I have: junk. Not even suitable for parts! But hey, I tried, and your tutorial made it look so simple. Not you fault, Peter. This is entirely a case of operator error. Fortunately it was not my main phone and I was really just experimenting to see whether I could do it for real. cheers!
