Putin warns of nuclear response to missile strikes on Russia

President Putin has sought to escalate nuclear tensions over the war in Ukraine ahead of President Zelensky’s crucial talks at the White House on the use of western missiles deep inside Russia.

Speaking at a session of the Kremlin’s National Security Council, Putin called for changes to Russia’s nuclear doctrine, the document that stipulates under which circumstances Moscow would use nuclear weapons.
