Hamlet is one of the most important pieces of western literature in history. It’s one of the most famous plays by the maybe the most famous writer that ever lived. It’s a tragic, existential play about revenge, and is written in beautiful iambic pentameter.

But it is also very long.

Do you need to know everything that happens in Hamlet? Are you about to take a quiz in English class and you did not study? Is your theater friend about to take you out to go see some Shakespeare and you’re worried the plot will go over your head as you try to decipher the pretty poetry?
