2k clear looks great.. Until it doesn't and then it's a nightmare. There is no such thing as a 'permanent' headlight restoration. Once that 2k clear starts getting scratched and scuffed up it's just gonna make it more difficult to remove and rejuvinate it, and it'll look even worse than the normal oxidation experienced with the factory coating. You're better off using sealants specifically formulated to go onto headlights. They provide superior clarity and will be easy to remove when they start to fail. There's a reason factories don't put 2k clear on headlights. Your sanding seemed great, all you had to do was polish it to perfection then put a headlight sealant on. Would have been even cheaper in the end cuz for the same price as that can of clear that will go bad in a day now that the hardener is activated, you could have had leftover products to restore a bunch of headlights for probably every car you'll ever buy whenever you felt like it.

what are you adding to the water to make it "soapy"? any specific soap?

2K is a BIG no no. Use Meguire's UV Prot. spray instead.

i had a shop do my head lights and spray with clear coat is the process the same?
