Idahoan Psalter: Psalm 81

Показать описание
The Idahoan shares his paraphrase of the 81st psalm.
Lyrics:
To God our strength sing ye aloud!
Make joyful noise unto the Lord!
Take up a psalm, His name to laud!
Bring ye a harp and strike a chord!
And blow ye the trumpet of assembly,
As it is appointed in God’s law,
Before which all the righteous stand in awe!
This He ordained witness to bear,
When in Egypt He did remove,
The burden from Jacob’s shoulder,
And did his tribes in the desert prove,
No more in lands of foreign tongue,
The pots and kilns to toil among,
For Israel called and God did answer,
From His very sanctuary,
With voice like pealing thunder!
Oh people, hear!
To God alone draw near!
None other shall ye worship or revere!
Open thy mouth wide unto Him in praise,
And He shall satisfy thy need always!
But Israel, alas, they would not heed,
The commandments of the Lord in deed.
They walked in their own foolishness and lust,
When if only they had in God put their trust,
He would soon have vanquished all their foes,
And won over the haters of the Lord—yay even those!
While Israel He would have fed,
With sweet honey and finest bread!
Prosperity that shall endure,
In his kingdom forevermore!
