The true Shaggy may be cowardly but will still go out of his way to rescue his teammates.

I like to think the dad is actual Shaggy and he just settled down. The idea of Shaggy becoming a therapist when he grows up helping kids with anxiety and eating disorders seems pretty wholesome to me.

They ruined everybody, not only Shaggy, and the new characters they created for this show aren't that good either. I think the least terrible ones are Gigi and that one cop that hit Velma with his car.

I saw Shaggy as the Cowardly Lion. He is always scared but will stay to fight for what was right and Scooby Snacks.

I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Everyone else in Not Velma seems to have a quasi-distinct personality, even if it's terribly executed or they're all dillholes. Norville really doesn't have anything that sets him apart. You could remove him from the show and it wouldn't change anything.

Norville is what happens when you make the love interest more sympathetic than the protagonist.
You don't want them getting together because he deserves so much better.

Also they try to be subversive with the whole anti-drug thing since it was always rumored that Shaggy was a pothead, but they never actually do anything creative with it.

Why not do something where Norville finds people to help the gang and they're all the creepiest, sketchiest people ever... and it just turns out they all work at the animal rescue center where Norville volunteers. It not only messes with expectations in a funny way, but also give a connection with Shaggy's animal-loving nature.

Mindy is the "Buffalo Bill" and Velma is the skin suit
that is literally how I view this mess at this point!!
"it rubs the lotion on it's skin"

Honestly, even if he is just some guy in a green shirt, I still liked him the best out of the main cast. He was the only character that wasn't a jackass from start to finish. He started off as a simp, but you could seem him losing more and more of his patience as it went on and took less and less of everyone's shit.

He's also the only one to not be from a fucked up home. His parents were legit wholesome. They were the only adult characters I was always happy to see because they were actually helpful characters.

It’s weird. You can almost see this as the Scooby-Doo gang if all their roles were switched around. Like this is how I see it working out.

Velma: is the strong willed (overly aggressive and bossy ) leader of the gang.
Norville: the smart and observant one…sometimes
and voice of reason….sometimes
Fred: the Damsel in Distress and comic relief. (Probably would be attracted to the monsters at this point.)
Daphne: Idk…she kicks a** and does arson.

They didn't just ruin Shaggy. They ruined all the human members of the gang. They especially shat on Velma by replacing her with Mindy Kaling, which is why this show should've been called Mindy. In essence, (in my own opinion) all four of the original human members of the Scooby gang were effectively removed and were replaced with mindbendingly inferior doppelgangers who are completely unlike the characters they're supposed to be aping outside of some visual similarities.

I used to not like mystery Incorporated, because they completely change the characters but after Velma came out, I’m gonna watch mystery Incorporated

Norville isn’t Shaggy. He’s just some guy who stole Shaggy’s clothes.

I think my favorite moment with Shaggy was when both the movies the Halloween one with the Goblin King and Monster Unleashed. Was when Shaggy and Scooby had to saved gang from turning into monsters. Shaggy had a moment of realization that he was brave and courageous throughout the whole adventure and he still wanted to continue even he was scared. In the monster unleashed movie Shaggy felt like he didn’t provide anything for the gang and always messed up. But Velma comforted him saying Shaggy was always brave, he’s always unapologetically himself and never cares about others opinions, he goofy, but a good and lovable friend. It was definitely my favorite moment from the movie. Velma saying she’s looks up to Shaggy because he not the only one who insecure. Velma is shy and often worried about making fool of herself if she’s wrong about something cuz she’s supposed to be the smart one. Shaggy in the original Scooby Doo series was often scared but he was brave and he pulls though in the end

Norville’s personality is closer to those of Will Smith than to those of Shaggy.

Norville is the opposite of Ultra Instinct Shaggy.
This is the universe where he became Jiren Shaggy instead meaning he has no personality.

Maybe this Shaggy can’t go Ultra Instinct but perhaps he can still go Rose.

what if this show took that idea of norvilles dad looking like the original character and just doing that? make it so all their parents were the original cast and these were their kids? all the gang could marry or adopt into the races that these characters were and you could explore how they got there! god damnit! this show is already half about the parents and half about the kids, this would have made it actually make sense! you could explore the "missed opportunities" of their late teen early 20 years. it would make sense that there was no scooby, the mystery machine would be a beatup old van with stupid colors because it would be freds old van that his son finds. GOD DAMNIT this could have been something else while staying this and finding ways for it to work!

What I truly hate about Norville (God even the name sucks) is how he treats Gigi. Specially in chapter 8, where not only was he unmature and incompetent enough to not talk with her about sexuality, even if he wasn't ready he should have told her something, instead of ignoring her obvious clues and making her feel dumb and unappreciated and, he's even so stupid to walk over her for Velma and right there he calls Gigi, a drop dead gorgeous girl, and his GIRLFRIEND, RIGHT IN HER FACE "The SECOND hottest girl". Speaking of Velma, his attraction towards her is so pathetic, why is he this obsessed when Velma has ALWAYS treated him like crap? Anyway, I still remember shipping Velma and Shaggy, specially for Mistery Inc, they had some really wholesome moments, but here? You know what? They're both horrible, they kinda deserve each other just for that. I hate this show.
