I went to a cafe once in the afternoon just to order a glass of wine and people watch. I was actually shocked to see how many looks I got from other patrons. So many "Aw...poor thing, look how sad that is" looks. I thought it might have made me self-conscious, but it actually made me smile. Kind of empowering to know that you're doing something so simple, just for yourself, that scares other people for no reason. I'm happily married, I have friends and family, but sometimes you need to just check in with yourself. Don't be afraid to do stuff on your own! If people stare, its usually only because they are afraid to do the same thing.
