Hi - For question 15, you can imagine making a Hess cycle with the appropriate amount of CO2 and H2O underneath the equation. You would draw an arrow going down from the reactants and down from the products, as this is the direction of a combustion reaction; from hydrocarbon to combustion products.
The direct route (from left to right) will equal the indirect route following the first combustion arrow down, then going opposite the combustion arrow for the hydrocarbon products.
This means that the sign for combustion of hexane keeps its sign (-4163) and the other two combustion enthalpies are reversed i.e. -(-1411) and -(-2878) which results in the sum: 1411 + 2878 - 4163, which is answer C

For 15, I think you're meant to treat it as a bond enthalpies question and use Break - Make. So that would be -4163 - (-1411 - 2878), which equals 1411 + 2878 - 4163, which is C.
