“Never on Sunday” - Manos Hatzidakis - arranged by Jim Giddings

Per Wikipedia, this won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1960, a first for a foreign-language picture. The composer refused the award because he felt Athens was misrepresented in the film.

Hope to switch to recording some new Christmas music soon! I do currently have a playlist of 40 Christmas arrangements for the eager beavers who like to start listening before Thanksgiving :)

When I was young that tune was big. Thank you -- very nice performance. It's super fun to play that for Greeks. They will dance to it and speed it up until the whole thing disintegrates. It's a world of fun!!!

I have vivid memories of first hearing this song on a bus in Belize in 1997, heading from the coast up into the mountains. Must have been the version by the Chordettes. I'm not sure I've ever heard it since, yet it obviously made a big impression on me! I hadn't realized Jim had done an arrangement of this -- I'll have to look it up.
