We Are Created To Become Like Jesus I Season One, Episode 15

We are created in the image of God. We are recreated through the Holy Spirit at work within us to become more like Jesus. Simply put, we are born again; we are transformed. Our desire to be more like Jesus can only come from God because we cannot change our heart, only He can.

God uses His Word, the Spirit, and those around us to reveal more of who He is to us, so that we can become more like Jesus. Are there people in your life God uses to show you who He is? Maybe it’s a friend who, while walking through a really hard season, exudes unexplainable joy. Or maybe it’s through a conversation with someone at the grocery, who displays kindness toward you.

Tara-Leigh and Candace hope that through this episode you continue to hunger after a relationship with God AND that He drops people in your life that reveal more of who He is to you. May He bring "Debbies" into your garage door to bring you cookies (you have to listen to understand)!

In this episode, you will hear Candace and Tara-Leigh discuss:

Being born again is not a weird thing, it is a spiritual transformation that God does within us so we can be more like Jesus.

How the Word, the Spirit, and people in our life work to show us more of who God is.

People in their lives who showed them more of who God is, and how it has shaped their faith.

Scripture Memory of the Season:
1 John 5:1-6 (CSB) Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father also loves the one born of him. This is how we know that we love God’s children; when we love God and obey His commands. For this is what love for God is: to keep His commands. And His commands are not a burden, because everyone who has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith. Who is the one who conquers the world, but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? Jesus Christ--he is the one who came by water and blood, not by water only, but by water and by blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

Debbie had to be a southerner because that is just how we southerners are. Sweet tea, cookies and Jesus! 💓

This was such a powerful episode. Thank you both for always being so open and honest. A year ago, I received a “no” from a longtime prayer and just 6 months later, I realized that it wasn’t a “no” but a “not yet, I have something so much better planned for you.” As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to be patient and understand that my time isn’t as significant as God’s time which is absolutely perfect. Putting that trust in the Lord is a lesson I’m learning each day.

Loved this episode a lot.
I have to say that Candace is one of those people who directed me to God.
It's because of her, and my US family (I'm from Belgium) that I've been connected with God and became a Christian about 10 years ago.

But it wasn't until last year, when I started watching The Chosen (also thanks to my US family) that I've really been born again and really wanted to learn all about Jesus and our Lord and live more like them.
That's why my only New Year's resolution this year was to start Tara-Leigh's Bible Recap and I learn so much from her recaps each day! (I read from the (In)Courage Bible that Candace gave me when I visited her on set of Fuller House in 2019)

I'll always be grateful to Candace for teaching me about her faith and our Lord🙌🙌🙌

I love the two of you together so much!!! It was a JW best friend that tried to draw me into her religion but it backfired on her … I prayed that God would become real in my heart … it’s a long story but amazing how God uses people as a tool to reach other people. ❤ <\\\>< ❤️

In 1976 I was fortunate enough to be chosen to be in a Bicentennial choir. It was a local thing, but our performance was being recorded to be on an album and it was a big deal to us kids. Anyhoo - our dresses were made of 100% polyester, so the comment about it at the beginning of this podcast was hilarious to me!!! I remember being under bright lights singing my little heart out, sweating profusely and wondering why! The 1970's were definitely a challenging era from a fashion standpoint. Thank you so much for the giggle and the flashback to the 70's. LOL! God bless you ladies! Keep up the good work!
