"There was also an armoured conning tower, if you wanted to go and die in a giant bell". Brilliant!
The stepped- down quarterdeck on these ships was an advantage, so at least one could tell which way round thay were.

I love these pre dreadnought ships. There is something magnificent in their ridiculousness.

Missing the old intro but the new one is growing on me

After watching your French pre-dreadnought video and this, I now believe the French interpreted "build up naval infrastructure" as "build ships that look like buildings."

Drachinfel love the new intro music its sounds like piorun saying "hello guys I am here", Warspite saying just "direct me to my targets", swordfish " where do you want these tea and crumpets" and the ending with the Kamchatka panicky madly as torpedo boats attack

I would have NO desire to die inside a large bell!!!

Another great Drachism!

So French battleships of the period looked like rather aggressive hotels, while their armoured cruisers looked like floating factories. ☺️

Watching this on holiday on Turkish coast right by Izmir…present day name for Smyrna. Was dinghy sailing myself this afternoon. Must have been quite a sight to see those six funnels coming over the horizon, back in the day. 🥖🥖🥖. 🥖🥖🥖

Hope the new music grows on me. I love the old intro music

The Edgar Quinet's modernization as a training ship deserves a little more coverage, new reworked bridge and some funnels, boilers and guns removed for a seaplane catapult.

The most steampunk armoured cruisers out there.... better looking than most of their battleships too!

In the 1960’s as a teenager I purchased the Ian Allan French Warships of World War 1 and was struck by the’Fierce Face’ designs. Of course their exports were outclassed by the British exports to Japan at Tsushima. 👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

First time hearing the new intro, how discordant, it's interesting how you become used to certain things. Fortunately the content is outstanding as ever, and I can become comfortable with the new music. Thanks for the content.

Ah, the French Navy
Either utterly insane, or the most beautiful ships to ever exist, with nothing in between.

Thanks Drach
An amazing pair of French ships which seemed to be built to roughly the same design, a rarity for the MN.

Oooo - a French ship, which means lots of funnels and a decent wine cellar 🙂

Sad to not have the same old intro music, but I think this is about as good of a replacement as we can ask for!

Disregarding the copyright shenanigans, like the new opening sequence

Sigh… I’m old and set in my ways. I’m going to miss the old intro music; it will always scream “Drachinifel” in my mind.
Love the new video, tho. These French vessels also always scream in my mind that phrase made famous by someone we know and love, “When hotels went to war!”
