i remember starting in 1.2.2, but most of my time was spent in 1.7.10 messing around with mods. Now here i am, 15 years later, still doing the same thing with large modpacks in 1.20. Boys never grow up, it's just the toys that get bigger.

I am SO GLAD they changed the mob spawning light level... Spawn-proofing was a NIGHTMARE before 1.18. I would light up my base with torches EVERYWHERE, but _somehow_ mobs would still spawn because I missed a few extremely hard to notice patches of light level 7.

technically my first version was OG pocket edition that only had like grass, stone and flowers and you couldn't even craft, but i only did that once. then my first Java version was i think the update that added dyed wool, i played on creative superflat worlds with my 2 siblings, we all played on the same account and moved in to a village each in a ring, we added basements and tried to use daylight sensors for lighting and automatic doors that stayed open at day, trying out stuff from the old creative guide book and making animal pens and tents and stuff in one big superflat world with large paths of random tnt holes to guide you

I'm honestly used to older versions of Minecraft because our Xbox minecraft never updated after we bought it for some reason, so it's always been on whatever the version before the aquatic update is

1.7.10 is when i first got minecraft and its WILD just how EMPTY that version feels now. i played 1.7.10 for HOURS in vanilla, in a creative/survival hybrid world. i still have that world save

It's very weird for me to consider 1.7 as "old minecraft" cuz it feels so recent lol. I still call the 1.9 combat the "new combat" and constantly forget that endgates and end islands exist. I feel so old lol.
