naming typhoons started when that scientists (I can't remember his name) feels petty as hell. He names typhoons base on people that he didn't like. politicians, other scientists and people he hate for whatever reason. implying that what they're doing is a disaster and people can't wait for them to just passed and disappear.

For info about Super Typhoon Yagi:
Yagi first made landfall in the Philippines as a Tropical storm which cause a lot of flooding. Before reaching China it strengthen into a category 5 Typhoon (157mph+) with 160mph winds. thus it called Super Typhoons (150mph or higher), but luckily it weakens but still strong and made landfall on Hainan, China as a CAT 4 (130-156mph) with winds probably 145mph winds making it the strongest typhoon to hit southern China in 10 years, the last time was in 2014 with Super Typhoon Rammasun which made landfall on Hainan as a CAT 5. And after made landfall on Hainan as a CAT 4 it weakens to a CAT 3 (115-129mph), but hours later it strengthen back to a CAT 4 and made landfall at that peak with 130mph winds and handed towards Northern Vietnam making it the strongest typhoon to hit Vietnam since records began.

Reason for naming: Tropical Cyclones (Hurricanes, Typhoons, and Cyclones) give name because it easier to talk about which storm they are referring to whem forecasting and also because they can form or happened many storms at the same place at the same time.

And fun fact: Tropical Cyclones in the Northern Hemisphere spin counter clockwise, while Tropical Cyclones in the Southern Hemisphere spin clockwise due to the Coriolis effect

From us the Philippines, bagyong enteng or in china "typhoon yagi" it flooded many houses and lots of people evacuate. But some of them just videos the problem. Then school was suspended for a whole week which was fun for most but others who was flooded wasn't. Stay safe everyone!

Well in the Philippines we call it typhoon enteng and the word "enteng" is very well known to most filipinos because it's a name of the famous fictional character here in the Philippines "enteng kabisote".

The typhoon was so big that it still affected Philippines even when it had already entered Vietnam. Some schools had to cancel for a week because of how big and strong it is.

I am so sorry for all these countries. Let's just hold all grudges these countries have with each other and pray for those that have been lost to mother nature and those that suffered because of it 🙏🙏. Sending my regards to China 🇨🇳 Vietnam 🇻🇳 and the Philippines 🇵🇭 from Europe ❤️🇪🇺

Here in vietnam we are basically trap inside of our house due to how strong the wind outside is.

And even when we go out after the typhoon pass we are still being trap due to all the big tree has been fall down to the road and blocking everyone.

A lots of those tree even end up fall down into importance electric infrastructure and causing massive blackout across resident area in Hanoi.

Lucky that it was in the middle of the night so no one was injured and the government has fix the issue as I’m writing this comment rn.

That is just in Hanoi alone, I can’t even describe all the damage others region are currently facing due to how massive damage this typhoon has cause in those area.

I really hope that we will get recover fast and improve after this catastrophe.

First: there is a lot of typhoon in Philippines like 20 a year
Second: naming typhoon makes it easy to recognize it.

The Typhoon hitting the electricity really made it bad, charging stations are pretty far when you suddenly get hit by a very wide black out. Walking lines of streets without any working light posts got me on edge even with a flashlight.

As Filipino. Typhoon hit Cagayan. Then it turn super Typhoon just like 2021 Typhoon Odette when we experience Including us. So Typhoon yagi landfalls southern China island called Hainan and goes to Vietnam until North Laos region.

The reason why typhoons and hurricanes are named is to track it alphabetically on how many of them had entered the country.

In the Philippines it has a different name "enteng" because typhoons are so common here especially in the summer that PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration) (also means "hope") names typhoons entering The Philippine Area of Responsibility From A-Z also having extra names just incase. Also stronger typhoons are more common in November and December take Haiyan (Yolanda) and Goni (Rolly) for example.
