O Menino da Porteira is a cururu by Teddy Vieira and Luís Raimundo, which was recorded for the first time by the country duo Luizinho and Limeira in 1955 and is one of the most popular compositions of Brazilian country music. It narrates, in the first person of the singular, the story of a cowboy who, when passing through Ouro Fino (city), used to come across a boy who opened the gates of the road for the passage of cattle in exchange for a few coins. One day, the boy is fatally attacked by an ox, a fact that deeply shakes emotionally the cowboy. It was later re-recorded by Tonico and Tinoco, Sérgio Reis, Tião Carreiro and Pardinho, Daniel and dozens of other singers. [extract from Wikipedia]
