EASY & CHEAP DIY Silicone Molds / Silicone Mold / Dish Soap

Welcome back everyone! I found a way to make both EASY and CHEAP DIY Silicone Molds. If you already have the common items in the video it's basically free!

UPDATE: Molds did not dry properly and resin touching the silicone was sticky and not smooth!!
If you know a way to make this work please comment how you got yours to work. I am looking at getting some Mold-Max 30 to make my own molds instead.

I think I figured out the exact formula for making your own molds and with some tweaking I will get the exact amount of Water to Dish Soap to make the molds. Be sure to continually mix the silicone for 10 minutes or until it feels like Silly Putty or Thick taffy and it doesn't stick to your hands.

This should help many who are struggling to make these molds. The trick is cool water, plain dawn dish soap, and cheap 100% silicone from your local home improvement store.

If you have any ideas on how to make this even better please leave me a comment!!

If you like this video you can always buy me a cup of coffee by donating to my paypal!! Any donations are welcome!! Thank you!!

Items Used:
DAP 100% White Silicone (from home improvement store)
Razor Knife
Cool Water
Dawn Dish soap (no additives, just plain blue) about 1/4 cup for quart of water but add a little more if the silicone is sticking to your hands.
Plastic placemat from Walmart

What I liked is you showed where things didn’t work just right and then how you adjusted things to fix it.

There is a circle hole on the top of the caulk gun that when you squeeze the handle, it will nip the tip off. Also, then there is a metal pick in the inside of the caulk gun handle that will puncture the inside of the tube. When you finish your project, just put a nail down the neck of the tip, and it will not dry out! There are little tips that most people don't know!

I think that using some oil helps it not stick to the hands, and also some starch is used by some people

Thanks for all information I learned a lot. For your moulding with the plastic mug I would cut from the original plastic mug the bottom off and put the silicon moulding inside. It would hold it perfect together instead of the rubber bands. Let me know if you like my idea.

if you soap your hands dry first and let it dry, it will help keep your hands clean even if you're a bit short on soap in the water. dawn is also one of the best mold releases for this type of silicone i've found as well.

I looked for the video of you testing out your molds you made of silicone, dish soap and room temperature water but it’s no where to be found. I’m really wanting to see how your molds turned out with the epoxy resin so please fill me in or updated video would be great!!

This is so great!!! I’ve always been hesitant to do it myself. Question: I live in Europe and Dawn isn’t readily available—oddly enough, Palmolive is—is this a good substitute?

Try it again with the clear Dap. It reacts differently and has a different smell as it cures. Aslo a little thicker and doesn't come out so soupy.
