Small error.: Please note Fortnite was tested using Hardware Ray Tracing, not software. The Hardware Ray Tracing option was selected, the graph is correct, the audio where I said 'software ray tracing' was incorrect. Apologies for the confusion.

$1479 is the Australian MSRP for the 4070TI so I went and bought a used 6800XT for $700 AUD this afternoon. 80% of the performance for less than half the money. These guys are on another planet with pricing for this generation.

I remember Nvidia and AMD having been involved in price fixing lawsuit around 2008. I think it's time for someone to revisit that.

At this point, I am convinced Nvidia & AMD are gaming the market as a duopoly. Trade commissions the world over need to start looking into their practices and fining their asses into oblivion. Because, no way can these price be explained away as simply 'Inflation'. Its high time regulators look into fixing this duopoly, which is long overdue.

With the 4070Ti prices being so much, you better believe the 4060 & Ti cards will follow suit, making Nvidia a nice chunk of change on every class of card that it sells. I hope the sales figures communicates to Nvidia that their strategy is a flawed one and that post mining boom buyers want value not extortion.

It's wild to me how even after the disaster that was the availability, scalping and mythical MSRP crisis of the last generation, this new one is somehow even worse with inflated pricing, ludicrous marketing and lackluster products.

Almost as big of a meme as the 4070 tee eye and the 3090 tie.

What a dark age of GPU we are living in.

>facitiously release as 4080 12GB for 900 as part of a "door-in-the-face-technique" scheme
>unlaunch 4080 12GB due to "backlash" you totally didnt expect
>re-launch as 4070 TI, but for $800 this time!
>have people excited for $100 price-cut
>in the end upped the MSRP for the xx70 TI from 599 to 799 in one generation by doing a "price-cut".

Truely, our community is blessed with some of the finest minds that they get excited over it.

The 4070ti did not create the pricing structure it sits in, both nVidia and AMD did that with the 4080 and 7900 XTX, so like it or not we are stuck with pricing in relation to those cards. I was super disappointed with the 40xx reveals and was holding out for some good news from AMD, but the 7900 XT in particular trashed all that. Pushed me to a $550 US 6800 XT, and now the 4070ti just reinforces that I made a good call.

I continue to be incredibly pleased with my purchase of the 3060ti. I was deathly afraid that it wouldn't have any sort of staying power like my 1060 6gb had, but with prices as ludicrous as they are now, I imagine it will be a while before my card is no longer the lowest common denominator that needs to be developed for.

Further proof that the 7900XT is actually a 7700XT, while the 7900XTX is really a 7800XT.

I do find it strange that both Nvidia and AMD have both chosen to give lower tier cards higher tier names and MSRPs. It's almost as if they were working together to fix prices and mislead customers.

It warms my heart to see GPU sales at all time lows given the crap both Nvidia and AMD are givin us, let's keep holding the line to wake them up to the fact that mining and shortages are over and their overpriced GPUs will just gather dust in the shelves and maybe next gen we get products which actually do make a leap in performance per dolar.

I just can't help to notice how good Radeon RX 6900 XT and RX 6950 XT when compared to the newer graphics card. Sure they are slower. But they were priced better than RTX 3090 and RTX 3090 Ti and they are still holding good against $800 new "midrange" GPU. I personally own and still using RTX 3080 Ti. While it is still good, I feel that AMD GPU held better in longer run.

I feel like I'll be holding on to my Radeon 5700 for quite awhile longer, one of the last real Price/Performance bargains on the mid-tier

I'm sorry, what? You are looking at barely a 10% difference in cost per frame from the model 2 years ago when you compare the 4070Ti to the 3080. How is that corrected value? Things are supposed to get substantially cheaper, not stay the exact same after 2 years. This is a disaster. When compared to a mid range 3070 from two years ago things are even worse lol. And this is if it actually sells for MSRP.

Quick info: In Austria and Germany, the 7900XT is priced at lowest 992€, the 7900XTX as "low" as 1349€. So not that great in our Country because the 4080 also costs 1349€, the 4090 is 1928€.
And the cheapest pre release 4070ti price is 969€

UPDATE 27.1.23

4070ti = 870€
4080 = 1300€
4090 = 1820€

Performance Data: (Hardware Unboxed 16 Games Average)

4080 costs 430€ more (49%) than the 4070ti for 18% more FPS in WQHD and 25% more in 4K than the 4070ti

4090 costs 520€ more (40%) than the 4080 for 16% more FPS in WQHD and 30% more in 4K than the 4080

4090 costs 950€ more (109%) than the 4070ti for 38% more FPS in WQHD and 63% more in 4K than the 4070ti

Even considering a 4080 it would be dumb going for the 4090 for WQHD, its only 16% faster WOW.
And also the 4080 is only 18% faster than the 4070ti in WQHD so ill go for the 4070 if the 4080 doesnt come down. Sure there is also Raytracing where the 4080 has more power than a 4070ti, but as you can see in the video even the 5800x3d does limit the framerate in 1440p

And if you wonder about Radeon: 7900XT: 950€ and the 7900XTX costs 1250€, and at this price i would go with the 4080 instead of the 7900XTX.

That rasterized 7900XT performance next to the Nvidia cards in RE 1440p Raytracing graph is my biggest gripe with RT generally. Nvidia (and people apparently) put this ungodly high value on these features that, if not for them, Nvidia would be outpriced and outperformed in everything but their uppermost flagship products across the board. It's really a shame that Nvidia marketing's slowly but surely yanking the "performance" discussion away from rasterized and towards things like frame injection and upscaling to help cover up their awful pricing.

Just to let you know, when they launched 2080TI for $1200 it was considered outrageous, now they are selling mid cards for that

Been checking all the 4070 ti pricing. Cheapest one in U.S. are at MSRP $800. Not a bad card at that price. But most are at $850+. Was able to grab a 6950 XT for $700 which puts it at $8.33 cost per frame. Not to bad of a deal.
