As someone who's slept in a bathtub before, you can basically never be well-rested because the hard surfaces cause so much discomfort that you're always in a light sleep. Add that to the fact that the bathroom is super echo-ey, and you get a scenario where basically nobody can sneak up on you because you're easily awoken.

He sleeps in the bathtub probably because he can sleep well only when he feels safe...and in the end of ep3 when Miri asked them to sleep with her Rei fell asleep damn fast...👀

In the manga The Fable which is about an OP assassin, also very realistic in terms what a human can actually do and not the dramatic one man army most anime and manga do, he sleeps in the bathtub as well, every night. He even makes a fake body in the actual bed, every night and yes for the exact reason you state

Bathtubs are one of the most bullet and explosion proof places in your home. Is a good cover, and if there is a good exit it can give you a good defendable point. Add to that the surprise factor... and It kind of works

Not me thinking it's because how he treated in his childhood. As Asian I know several parents used to locked their child in bathroom as punishment. But this this is very rare case actually. Most are just locked them in bedroom.

Reminds me of Levi, not because ambushes but because bathtub bed

I took it as a ptsd measure. It's documented that veterans are known to not feel safe in beds and instead opt to dig foxholes and trenches in their gardens to sleep in. When that's not available, the raised edges of the bath tub are the next best thing.

i've watched a kdrama where the ML has trauma which made him sleep in the bathtub until his adulthood, as it was his safe space away from his abusive father and brother. he constantly suffers from neck/back pains from sleeping in a tub but he'd rather be uncomfortable than be terrified.

no you're pretty right because Miri asked Rei why is he sleeping in the bathtub and Rei said "because there's bad guys"

This is a common thing to see in bad areas as well, as you can often hide in metal bathtubs to survived gunfire through your house.

And the fact that in a firefight or near explosions, a bath tub has one of the best defenses in a household.

Bathtubs are comfy as hell

Rei actually mentions that he sleeps in the bathtub in case of an ambush

To add to this, it’s actually a very common place to go in case of a shoot out

Instead of someone having to just go through a single wall in a room to hit your body, they have to go through multiple walls and a bathtub (which used to be made mainly of porcelain)

He looks so cool in his assassin look, and the sloppy look also looks good. Duality and handsomeness check ready to fall in love with the series.

It’s also because bathtubs are quite uncomfortable so it would make the person very easy to wake up. say a window breaks and you’re sleeping in a bed you could possibly sleep through it, but if you’re in a bathtub, it is very easy for that to wake you up.
