The Dunlop DVP5 Volume (X) 8 Pedal… is it Any Good? Do you Really Need One? What about Pedal Travel & Signal Cut-off? In this Video I Give Some Short Music Illustrations on How the Pedal can be Used In-Conjunction with Others.

As I continue my journey back to playing guitar after a 40 year break, guitar pedals are of course part of that trip and today there are numerous pedals to choose from. Dunlop as a company needs very little introduction, founded in 1965, they are well-known for their pedals and their build quality, which incidentally, includes the MXR brand and I have covered a number of reviews on various effects pedals which are worth checking out. The Dunlop DVP5 Volume (X) 8 Pedal comes in a black finish, and does not require any power to operate other than plugging into an amplifier, this means it does not have a buffer which may or may not be a consideration. You can of course purchase other volume pedals that have a buffer and therefore require power. This particular pedal sits in-between the larger DVP3 Volume pedal and the smaller DVP4 pedal. One thing to watch-out for with these types of pedals is where the cut-off is, when applying pedal action at the start and end of travel.

This video shows close-up easy to view illustrations of the pedal at work, and while not an exhaustive review and test, this should help anyone who is considering a mid-sized volume pedal or indeed the The Dunlop DVP5 Volume (X) 8 Pedal... Enjoy!

Hi Folks, had to add a correction caption on the video as I made a mistake regarding the 'Input' & 'Output' jacks - many thanks to Glen for spotting that. 😄
