I think problem is about lone awareness, i think best thing fitting in would be awareness and acceptance together,
Lone awareness does not mean acceptance
Lone acceptance meanc accepting something u dont know about much, often leading to blind pride.

Acceptance and awareness should be together, not separate.

As someone on the spectrum myself, I never felt comfortable with it when my mom celebrated it. I know she is trying to show support, . However, it just comes off as people using it to use it to better themselves and puts us down in the process. I can't tell you how many times I've seen so people acknowledging but not care and even make it worse. If anything, I feel like I am put on a display case as an oddity.

Also, how Autism Speaks presents it, just no.

Acceptance is great and all but It means nothing when disabled education policy is trash in the US.
