You are conditioned to believe that. It has become a doctrine that "the world" wants to harm Christians.
Persecution makes you feel special and validates all your assumptions about what you believe. However Persecution doesn't make what you believe true.
That is a fallacy. It is called the "gallilean Gambit"
It goes like this" P1: Galileo was persecuted and was correct.
P2: I am persecuted.
C: I am correct.
They made fun of Galileo, and he was right.They make fun of me, therefore I am right."
