Actually cristine is the reason I do things outside of my day job.. I started to think.. if she can do it, so can I.. and I'm so happy I gained the courage.. now I run a small volunteer organisation doing what I love, on top of my day job, which I also love <3

Now I get why so many youtubers do vlogmas - where they blog every day. The ad revenue is bigger around that time.

Ben: “There’s some stories there”...tell us those stories please!

Interestingly, I’m a government employee in California and they have to post our salaries online WITH our names, but it’s also true that our positions pay us within a salary range for our title, not a set salary.

Nice to know the behind the scenes stuff. For such a long time I think youtube didn’t want anyone discussing the money YTubers make

When you side hustle/hobby really starts to return dividends. And what you said about the catalog paying for itself over time reminds me of what I do for my hobby/side hustle. A set amount of time up front yields unlimited returns as people buy patterns. The content never goes away and as long as I continue with staples vs overly trendy, the time is never wasted.

Another thing we need to take account is the category of youtube videos that Cristine makes, CPM varies by the type of videos you make. But yeah I'm not surprised considering the number of medium size niche channels with around 300k-500k subs that have youtube as their full career with some income on the side.

They do that in the US too. I work at a public library, and it lists exactly what I make.

I wonder how this info changes when you factor in benefits? Or is it different for Canada w better overall govt support because in the US people have the option to take a lower salary for better healthcare the employer pays for

This just tells me that even moderately successful Youtubers don’t have an ounce of room to complain. They probably make more than *double* the average American salary. More than our teachers, more than and more than so many jobs that without them, society would fall. In the states at least, they don’t live relatable lifestyles, despite how much they try to.

It is interesting how our salaries are posted for government positions even when you apply for them. PS also work for the Canadian government
