Ingalls Shipbuilding launched the U.S. Navy amphibious assault ship, Tripoli (LHA 7), 13 weeks ahead of schedule on Monday. Tripoli is the second ship in the USS America (LHA 6) class of large-deck amphibious ships built by Ingalls Shipbuilding and is scheduled to be christened in September 2017.

How do you keep the dry dock level when the ship is moved onto it? I'd imagine it would need progressively more buoyancy as the weight of the ship transferred from land to the dry dock.

How can they load that weight onto that floating dock without the dock sinking lower into the water. How does it stay exactly level with the concrete hard stand ?
