The parents never planned to pay for the wedding. They wanted credit for doing so but didn’t want to pay a dime. I would post the nasty email from dad demanding payment on social media and say they gave your sister 400k and you not a plug nickel. End of story and you are now disowning them and anyone who thinks they are right. My parents didn’t lie to me but they did similar. They paid for sister wedding and nothing for mine. That was my last straw and I called my mom out on the years of golden child crap. She felt guilty on her death bed because she knew she was a terrible parent

Hey OP, consider this: Since your parents like to teach "financial responsibility" keep them the heck away from their grand children if you end up having children in the future. I can imagine them giving the grand children a gift like a stuffed animal or toy then mailing them a bill for it. And since they like to practice FAVORITISM so much if the OP has more than one child or if she has one child but her sister has one or more children the parents might pick and choose which child they "favor".
