Putin had said Russia is willing to give back 2 of the 4 islands to Japan when Japan cease to be a vassal state of the US.

"this is not a settled issue yet"?? I believe from the Russian side, the issue of Kuril Islands' ownership is settled. It is Japan that think it is not settled.
Japan's unconditional surrendered in WW2 included recognition of Potsdam and Cairo declaration which limited Japan's territory to only the 4 main islands. Since US was covering for Japan after the war such as pardoning biological officers, it ignored this fact to go against PRC and USSR in the Cold War.

Every country has problems with neighbors. Human nature. We are not unique. However, dealing with such issues smartly determines peace and global standing..

The last 4 Island were captured by USSR towards the end of WW2.

They were also the home base of fast carrier strike force for Perl Harbor raid.

Shekhar Gupta is at his best when talking about International issues. Sir please don't waste your time on minor national political issues. Your political videos are the only ones which I am not able to completely finish.

There’s a lot of heat between Kcr and bjp lately., I guess an episode on that would be interesting. BJP also seems to be growing a strong foothold in Telangana, will This become a gateway for BJP’s entry to Deep South. An episode on the present financial position AP (Govt taking huge loans, delaying the salary payments, etc) would also be interesting.

Really like the way you are narrating things. Brisk and clear, sharp, to the point.

Colonialism is not the reason why we have a neighborhood problem.

Indic civilization may be at least 5000 thousand year old. We are still a multi national people, in spite of having the same cultural roots. In spite of the notion called Bharatvarsha.

But colonialism is the reason why we exist as one country called India in the first place. And that too as a Republic.

Else Balkanization of the subcontinent and bunch of Turki Sultanates.

Minority and a racist rule...like South Africa...with no power shared with the native majority.

Nawab of Bengal, Nizam of Hyderabad, Sultan of Mysore, Nawab of Arcot, Nawab of Awad and of course the biggest of them all, the one ruling from Dilli. All Turki Sultanates.

Complete Turki colonization.

Absolutely no Republic of India.

Robert Clive was therefore the liberator...the real father of the modern nation-state called India, not some cunning baniya masquerading as a Godman.

History is a difficult subject I guess.

As Japan's neighbor, the Philipines recently purchased the Brahmos system to counter claims to its territory, it would be ironic, if Japan did the same here, or perhaps increased the range of their existring ground based cruise missile systems.

It was a brilliant analysis but don’t forget that the American recent navel sudden presence in the area escalated the situation, which necessitated the defensive end offensive weapons.

The USSR entered the war with Japan on 9th August, exactly 3 months after its victory over Germany, as was promised to Roosevelt. Japan surrendered on 2 September, after the Soviets annihilated its Kwuantung army in Manchuria.
