Not a fan of the buck 119 but it's a good hunt knife but not a bushcraft knife. Not one I'd bet my life on.

Cool video. I don't necessarily agree with all of your choices. I get that Buck knives are iconic, and their heat treatment is undoubtedly top notch. I ordered a Buck 120 in CPM S35vn a couple of years ago. But I returned it because it just looked and felt flimsy compared to most of my other fixed blade knives. I think the fixed blade hunting/survival knife industry has progressed to the point where a single slab of metal with a couple handle scales screwed on has proven to be the best way to go for a tough, unbreakable, reliable knife. Even the cheap China-made fixed blades are more indestructible now than the old school Bucks and Pumas, etc. That's my 2 cents😁

The chair is against the door, long mustache. Dawns early light, the fan is already slinging shit .

I have a puma Skinner 5 inch. Very good knife. I have had it for 50 years. 😊
I have skinned about six deer plus.

Buck 119 makes me question everything you said. Trust your life on it... you must be kidding.

Michael - Good comments, well spoken & concise! And in my humble opinion, great picks 👍. Like that you are more real-world experience based and less entertainment driven. Like a lot of good knife info content out there, but many are a little too silly sometimes. You seem like a guy who knows from use. You have a new subscriber👌

I stay away from fixed blades in stainless super steels. I don't believe they are tough enough.
Nice design but id like it better in 14c28n.
My opinion on WTG to hard to get and rather expensive for basic carbon steel.
I've kinda changed my thinking based on my usage.
I personally carry a 3-4 fixed blade for most tasks.
I carry a 16in machete for clearing trails and stuff.
It's cheaper does everything easy to sharpen and light.
I carry a mora Garberg or Bps adventure, SRK-C one of those and a folder.
Another great knife is kabar cutless machete, GGK sirupate. But like i said lately terrachete by condor.
Big knives as much as i love them are not worth the weight. I study FMA so knives and swords are what i train with. Which taught me a machete is the way to go.
I enjoy your videos even if i have different opinions it's always good to hear someone else's opinion. There is no right way only different.

Interesting choices. Thank you for your thoughts.
The Cold Steel Lloyd Pendleton Classic is an excellent knife. Had one, sold it decades ago — Big mistake! Puma knives made in Germany are also excellent knives, I prefer the White Hunter that I have had for 57 years. I also agree that Buck Knives makes good products, I prefer their 110 and 117 — personal choice.

So, do you still trust the Grizzly? 🤔🤣 I was wondering if you'd tell about the reason for the bandaid.

Cold Steel. Nothin' like a poorly executed Loveless copy....

So what happened, get a little carried away. Rocking the band aid. Fun with knives cut himself.

420HC is a tough steel with a high corrosion resistance. Much tougher then 1095, but it can be a little harder to sharpen. Buck and Gerber both do an amazing job with the heat treatment of this metal. Knife Steel Nerds gives this metal a (9) in toughness, with a (10) being the strongest.
