Final Assembly and First Start of my 800HP+ Capable BMW N20 Engine

It's been about 2 months since I started this project, it took a little longer than I wanted because of parts and time away from work but I finally finished the assembly of our forged and decked BMW N20 Engine. We had to modify the block quite a bit adding hardened aluminum rods in the water jackets and notching the lower cylinder walls to fit our forged rods. I did all of the work myself in my shop at home!
The forged rods and pistons along with the decking and ARP studs should allow us to push around 800 safely although I don't think we will ever get that high. We have some supporting mods but need to get bigger injectors and upgraded fuel pumps and of course a larger turbo and a tune but we are halfway there!

Hopefully we get a smooth first start and the engine stays together!!

Hey All, I just got the website launched with all of my build info. I will update it along the way with any new stuff I add. I also have all of my turbo piping on order, going to try to frankenstein some things together to make it work without spending 3k on a custom setup. www.projectrandom.com

I knew I could be done, for years people underestimated this engine.

Open deck 4 cylinder had to have been a pretty penny spent, props to you guys for making it work. Always love seeing underrated bmw motors get the work that they deserve done.

Fbo, n20 228i, e30, 4.3 0-60, and that's with bald run flats LOL. $3k in mods. N20 is slept on, and it's super affordable.

Hey there, Nice project, Keep it up! I just wanted to ask you one thing, I also have N20 and it's widely known issue that Timing chain kit is made of literal garbage plastic, Which no matters what, will definitely break down. Why no one has ever made same kit with different material? Can't it be done?

Euro shops been doing this build for awhile.. there’s a reason it’s not more prevalent. B48… I own a n20 powered bmw. Half of a n54. Same issues as n54 and then some.

Hey what up bro where did you buy you’re piston I think imma go ahead and tackle the job myself.look at my cylinder with a bore scope and they look good so you’re saying if everything looks good in the cylinder block, just replacing piston with rings and that will solve the issue. No honing involved.
