A pair of polarized might have saved my life a few years ago. I had just moved to Florida and was fishing a small pond in a housing development, caught a small 2 lb bass on UL tackle and he was flopping at the watererline when I pulled him in. I was bending down to pick him up when I looked in the water and saw a alligator ready to pounce right on him. Probably would have got my arm. He wasn't huge but maybe 5 or 6 footer, enuff to remove a hand or wrist if he chomped it. Always use polarized glasses when fishing, especially in Florida. And never wear earphones or listen to music. Need to hear what's around you.. PS Polarized glasses only work horizontal. If you have a pair, to see if they are polarized, look at a car windshield and if you see all the brown dots and spots, the glasses are polarized. Turn them vertically and they won't work

Every gas station in America has a pair of polarized sunglasses that will cut the glare off of any surface

They aren't special but as someone who fishes there is definitely a difference in cheap polorized and at least mid range polorized glasses. Not sure if $300 ones are worth it but I have a pair that's like $20 and they kinda work and I have a $60 pair that really work.

For anyone wondering, I think I found the fish. I could be totally wrong but here's my guess:

See that triangular rock poking out the water in the top middle of your screen? Look down and slightly to the left of it, only a few inches though - not as far down as the middle of the screen. There's a small dark grey fish about as long as the rock is wide, and it's positioned parallel to the bottom edge of that triangle (i.e. facing down and to the right)
