Thanks for the tip. Turns out the battery was recalled/replaced and wiring harness needed to be replaced.
This new VLT has been in the shop 3 times now for issues. Most recently in the shop for three weeks. It is poorly engineered.

1800km in never had that issue on the same bike.

I had this issue on a ride that I'd lose electric power intermittently and found it was the charging port cover wasn't fully closing and making the circuit. If this cover is even a little off, the bike dies. before evry ride now, I double check the cover is fitted properly and it usually is. No issues since.

I have exactly the same problem on a Norco Fluid A2, did you at any point have the battery fully discharged and sitting in the garage awhile? Also does the Shimano update help at all do you know?

My brand new Norco VLT Range just did this on second ride of its life. Battery will not come out of frame. Dropped it off at the shop. See what happens.

Typical problem of a totally discharged battery. Remove the battery and check the voltage. If it is below 28V for 36V you have killed it by not charging it in time....
