SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB S7 [One Month Later]

It's been a month since this was released and I have some thoughts on this... Tablets live in a weird space but is this one an exception? Should you buy it? You may want to know this...

ADDITIONAL REVIEW NOTES:
PHYSICAL:
Samsung gets updates for ~3 years (iPad gets updates for like 5 years)
120Hz screen
Display is very bright and vibrant!
Having lots of Galaxy phone tools on a laptop-like experience is powerful. Great for multi-tasking
S-pen latency is extremely low
S-Pen air gestures are nice (arrow up, left, scribble for screen capture)
Where can you stick the S Pen? - only the back or top, but only the back charges it
Placing the s-pen on the back when not looking takes practice
Perfect size for airplane tray working
Fingerprint sensor is not in the most natural location
I think it might be better than an in-display sensor in this case
Works well enough
Battery life is actually great! I am easily getting a couple days per charge
Charging takes a very long time with the included charger (3+ hrs)
Speakers are fantastic

KEYBOARD CASE:
Keyboard typing speed test: 65 words per minute (I am able to get 70-80 normally)
Some punctuation and peripheral keys throw me off because they are smaller
Pen holder on back is amazing

CAMERAS:
Great for video calls and scanning documents
Some architects or designers may want to use the cameras to take photos and draw on physical space

SOFTWARE and UI
Mouse can appear anywhere!
Dex mode is an extremely cool feature, but could still use some improvement
Wireless Dex allows you to use devices farther away without long cables (hotel TV)
Can you message and do phone stuff? - yes!
Android tablets are far from perfect. Many apps are not optimized, won’t go full screen in Dex, and/or won’t allow landscape view
Adobe products are just ok, Microsoft and Samsung are great, Google are ok
My Files leaves a lot to be desired

CONCLUSION:
Tablets still live in this weird limbo. Laptops are becoming more portable and phones are becoming larger and more powerful. Most of what I can do with this tablet, I could do better with either my phone or laptop.
Like a sports car and a pickup truck. A sports car is like a smartphone, and the pickup truck is like your laptop. Both are great, but sometimes a compact SUV is what you really want.
Great for recipes in the kitchen, watching media, mounting in your car, and working while traveling or on the go

As far as tablets go, this is the best Android tablet, and a solid competitor against the iPad

I've had the S7+ for 3 weeks now, and its incredible! I use it a lot for college. It's practically like a laptop but more portable. I didn't like tablets before but this one I love. The screen is beautiful and the sound is amazing. A beast for multitasking, I always use it on split screen and it doesn't even struggle. Taking notes and drawing is great. Transferring files with samsung flow is very easy, and súper easy to find. Recommend it a 100%.

I love the display. I went to best buy yesterday for my new car radio installation and used this thing and I think it's actually a tablet that I'd buy. 120hz and the ability to watch 4k videos organically in 60fps.. But to sum it all up in one word : Yes.

Have been using it for a month and i think it's really good workhorse, you can do almost anything with it, though sometimes you need to do some workarounds with some functions but when you get used to it then it's just perfect! The screen and the sPen are just amazing!

There is a new good lock update for multistar that adds the ability to force portrait apps into landscape! Still doesn't look amazing... but its much better

Just bought this tablet bundled with my S21 Ultra, I cant wait to replace my ipad mini 4 with this tabled. So much more functionality than the ipad mini! Mostly use it to watch media and read ebooks, but def see a lag in the ipad and the speakers are not that good. Thanks for the review! you pretty much explained everything I was wondering about the S7 tab

When using the pen often, it will stick (magnetically) to the top right hand edge of the tablet and there it is easy to grab regularly.

ive been using the S7+ since launch and I absolutely love it. I use it daily. Not just for games but also learning to draw, streaming, and for music (sheet music/lessons).

Just ordered the Tab S7 to replace my S4 can't wait to get it. I'm a Samsung guy mainly because of the outstanding video quality. Started years ago with their DLP TV then upgraded to the 65" plasma. Their phones I started with the S6 Edge now have the S10e. I have never been disappointed with any of their products.

Maybe try the rotation control app? I find that it overrides a lot of apps and allows you to have them set in any orientation you set the control to.

The front camera video and audio quality is impressive

I've been carrying it around for the past few weeks and find that I can get my writing work done at a much faster rate with the tab s7 than with a laptop, mostly due to its portability and really nice Google docs support.
I use the Kiwi browser in Dex mode to access my LastPass and full Google Docs desktop experience when I need it.

The pen is also just amazing, the first Android tablet that I have ever successfully used with OneNote. I also got a Lamy EMR pen that fits my hands better because I was used to writing with Lamy fountain pens.

The keyboard cover leaves a lot to be desired. It clamps shut both too strong and too weak at the same time. (As it would slide around but very difficult to pry open. And the 5-row layout is just bad for typing in Thai where the number row is used excessively. But it gets the job done, I also carry around a couple of mechanical keyboards but ended up not using them most of the time.
