Great video. The svchost.exe is an executable file of Microsoft Windows. This is an important Windows file and it is used to load the required DLL files that are used with Microsoft Windows and Windows programs that run on your computer.

Some Malware often uses a process by the name “svchost.exe” to mimic the windows process.
The original file is located only in c:\windows\system32. If the file that is located in any other location, then we can conclude that the system is infected with malware.
You may also have a look at a site which i came across, named as file-intelligence. It is a malware directory website where you can know about svchost.exe and other types of malware.

Holly shit, This worked amazingly well, CPU usage went from 25% idle to around 1-2% Memory usage is sitting at 2.60. Thanks a ton for this!

It works, thanks so much.
I thought reinstalling windows is the only way (after trying varius anti malware software).
Fyi, we can stop the fake svchost "temporarily" from task manager > Processing tab > click resource monitor > memory tab > right click svchost, the most CPU consuming > end process.

I had this problem for a looong long time. One day just curious why the is this happening. I saw your video. Folowed your instructions for disabling windows update and miracle, the computer just calmed down. The memory went to 44 which is about around the normal. Thank you man. You made my day today. Thank you very much again

Worked. Thanks. CPU usage fluctuates normally now: 0 - 5%, with sporadic spikes of 30%-70% that don't hold long. It used to stay at 100% continually. It was making me concerned.

This video really helped me identify that Windows Defender (which I don't want and appeared through a Windows Update) was taking up all my memory. Thanks to this video I sorted the problem and everything is ok now!

Thank you for the video! Physical memory dropped about 35% just doing the first step!

Thanks, it helped here too. Right from the start, had this svchost.exe eating like half of my memory; and as you pointed out, it turns out it was related to the Windows Updates. Now things are more efficient now that there's more memory available.
