In the latest cruise news updates, we have both good and bad news for cruisers. Cruise lines have announced new cruise cancellations, as well as new cruises that will be starting up. It has been an exciting week for the cruise industry!

If you've been following the cruise news, you know about the great news for Royal Caribbean's Odyssey of the Seas which will be sailing for the first time in Israel this summer. This ship will sail with a fully vaccinated crew and passengers (16 plus). However there have been some updates from the ship yard which could present a potential problem for the cruise line. We will be following this news story and updating as we know more.

We also have some updates on Alaska cruises and land vacation options. From trying to find a workaround to the Passenger Vessel Services Act so that cruises can sail to Alaska and not have to stop in Canada, to more efforts being made, Alaska cruises still have a chance. We also have news from Princess Cruises and Holland America, who will both be offering land vacations and tours in Alaska.

Do you think the price of cruises should increase? There is pressure on cruise lines like Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line to raise their prices on cruises, and I would like to know what you think. We talk about this and other cruise news updates and stories that affect you, in this video.

What do you think of cruise lines potentially raising prices MORE? Is there a limit where you may make different plans?

Hi Ilana, two weeks ago I told you our Celebrity Equinox November 2021 cruise to the ABC Islands out of Ft Lauderdale decreased by $1, 200 over four days (our TA got us the price reduction). Now, as of last night, the price just increased by $600. I check the pricing on our three booked cruises twice a week. It pays to be diligent. And we DID notice the plant changed into a lamp behind you. Hi from eagle eye Bob and shifty eye Jill in Connecticut

I think the cruise lines need to be careful, as if they go too high people will stop booking, then the prices will have to drop right down which will be detrimental to wall streets interest.

I think raising prices will hurt the cruise industry. I've recently looked at a cruise, on the same line, which we were going to take that had been cancelled in 2020. The ports were similar and I compared pricing. The difference was approximately $4, 000 higher for 2022. And that's for cruise only pricing. We've been cruising for 25 years and have never seen such a radical increase. Talk about leaving money on the table. I am not sure if the market will bear these increases. The limit may well be found. I, myself, may look for different vacations. Very disheartening.

We've been on 36 cruises so it stopped being a novelty years ago. I have a price in mind for what I will pay and beyond that we will find something else to do.

Very informative. We will not cruise as often if prices go up.

Booked a trip for January '22. Got balcony, 14 days, price was same or better than what I've paid previously including $400 credit. Being a Princess elite we also get perks like free laundry, drinks in cabin, WiFi so I'm not complaining and hoping it goes ahead.

Agent will also book airlines and transfer with Princess to keep it all synchronised in case something goes awry.

Great video. I’ve taken 18 cruises and my wife 37. We have started taking 2 per year. A price increase would cause us to take fewer cruises and more weeks at our timeshare in Las Vegas. Rich

Demand is high supply is low due to capacity limits. Let's not forget that many of the older ships that were smaller have been sold off.

Raising prices will mean people will cruise less over time. I understand the pressure, but cruise lines need to be careful that they are not harming their growth potential in the long term for short term gains.

I seriously hope they don’t further increase their prices. Prices for 2021 and beyond are already significantly higher than cruises were in 2019 & 2020 ... some as much as 2 or 3 times the price. Pre-Covid, I ‘finally’ was able to cruise more than once a year. With these price increases, sadly, that won’t happen. I will need to investigate all-inclusive packages and see how they compare. BTW Ilana, love your videos. Keep up the great work.

My same cruise I have booked in 2021. Same dates. Same ports. Same ship. In 2022 the price already is 400% more than I paid in 2021.

I feel the time may come when the cruise lines might price themselves out of business. They make so much money on board. No cruisers mean no money on board. Some may feel it could be greed seeking to make money with sky high prices. So much so that those who sail may look to land based vacations.

We were looking at a NCL cruise to Greece and Turkey for 2022. The price was significantly higher than we have ever paid for cruising Europe. Immediately, my spouse and I agreed we're not going to cruise if it means that type of substantial price increase. We have taken about 20 cruises, so maybe that's enough anyway, but we will consider land vacations. Let's hope the airlines don't also raise prices so much that we can no longer support that either. Oh, well. Maybe we need to buy a Camper Van and tour the USA? Oh, shucks! They are ridiculously expensive too.

I would have been surprised if prices didn't go up. Under normal circumstances cruise prices go up and the pandemic has been anything but normal. I want to cruise because it's a high value vacation and if I have to pay more I guess I will. If I have to step my cabin down I will just to cruise again. It's been exactly a year since I was on the Sky Princess and it's getting to the point that I'll even volunteer to row the ship to get back on a cruise ship. As always great video here and blog on the flip side.

We have had 2 Alaska cruises canceled RT LA. Not booking again until we can go from LA.

Very informative. If cruise prices go up too much they will hurt themselves in the long run unless they give something in return like making it an all-inclusive voyage. Thanks for the updates.

I was new to cruising before covid. I’ve been on thee cruises and I’m looking forward to more, however, if they raise the prices even more I can walk away easily. I can be just as happy with an all inclusive resort. I’m flexible, I don’t have to cruise. I will do so as long as I see value in it but if the prices get to high I will vacation other ways.

Thank you for these very informative videos, I hope to sail on ocean cruises in 2022 or 2023. This year hoping to do river cruises in the fall.
