She secretly despised both her parents! She was the eldest child and only daughter of a wizard named Orford Umbridge and a Muggle named Ellen Cracknell. She also had a Squib brother. Umbridge hated Orford for his lack of ambition - he had never been promoted, and worked in the Department of Magical Maintenance at the Ministry of Magic, and her mother, Ellen, for her flightiness, untidiness, and Muggle lineage. She also blamed her mother for her brother’s lack of magical ability.
