My Poles Experience

Recently the Poles were introduced to AoE2 and this is one of my early games playing them. In this video I talk about the playstyle I believe Poles needs to adopt and how things could be optimized to make them succeed in games. Not the prettiest display of POLE action, but trust me I'll have plenty more coming!

No I'm not a Pole dancer. No I don't play with Poles. I play with THE Poles. The civ. In AoE2. Did I make this worse or better? Idk i'm outta here

Plays the only Civ that allows perfect farm shape, and STILL manages to have those T90 farms...

He beat you to feudal because loom takes like 18 seconds for porto to research instead of 25, there’s your brain racking

I'd love to see you cast some of your own games more often. The fact that you are playing, means you can always explain the thought process behind the moves 100% accurately. Plus you are a very good player in your own right, so we can also learn something.

Poles are the best civ added to this game. Seriously fun.

I have had so much fun with the Poles, especially with the winged hussar + Trample damage combo

POLE action lol

Pole is definitely OP, now finally we can build those symmetrical farms xD

what's funny is that winged hussars were really expensive heavy cavalry in reality

hey T90, why not try playing with Poles again and play it with all the knowledge you gained from this game and break it down in another video and do a comparison with the stats because I believe you will get more insane number with this kind of play

One of the big things you missed mentioning is that Pole scout line gets additional damage against archers.

Poles food eco is so strong you can just spam hussars forever the last armor does not really matter

blue's biggest mistake was never adding in halbs, he ended the game with over 1k wood AND 1k food, he had plenty of time to adjust for that

I love the Poles. They seem strong at virtually all points of the game, but not OP. Maybe in late Castle Age, they're a little over the line with those cheap knights, but that's about it. They lack raw power after that, making up for it with numbers, which feels unique. I also enjoy how much longer I can spam knights for, especially with the extra 1500 gold. Ultimately, they're like mounted Goths, combining 2 really fun things in this game. They're also one of the only civs that can reasonably go knight + crossbow and then continue into Imp with those units. Wonderful civ.

I love the design of the folwark because it is a doubleedged sword in the earlygame, especially on the new, more open arabia.
Yeah, your vills at the folwark will net you nice bonusfood, but without the security of the tc they are also easy prey. Since your farms aren't around your tc you won't have many vills to garrison, so the enemy might just dive through your tc to get into your base if you prioritize your folwarkfarms too early. Once he's in you'll have to abandon your farms at the folwark until your base is cleared again so your foodeco takes a lot bigger hit than a regular eco with farms around the tc would. So you can either go for early risky farms to get a quick foodboost in early feudal to get a military lead or delay those farms, until your base is fully walled or otherwise secured, kinda like T90 did this game.

Great work T90. I want more of your own games commentary, specially with new civs/upgrades/metas etc

With poles every 2 vil’s on stone bring in the resources of 3 vil’s. That HAS to be how you think through the civ when you play it. You get extra production when on stone. Somewhat situational but you get “extra” vil’s when they’re mining stone. Figure out how to balance it and take advantage of it to get ahead. I think throwing a lot of vil’s on stone and abusing the market early might be the way to get a jump on the enemy

I am a low elo legend who was just casually playing an unranked match and got obliterated to a poles night rush
Now I am traumatized for life

Advancing earlier, is that due to him being able to research loom quicker? Is that considered a technology that gets researched faster?

That was a cool cast. Very informative with the pauses to explain why you're doing XYZ. pointing out potential mistakes, etc

T90 begging for spec chat for years
Devs: here's a civ that requires expert farm placement

also, tower rush + scouts on nomad
